Determining if Left, Right, or Two Tailed Test Given the Null Hypothesis

The type of test (left, right, or two-tailed) you choose to use is dictated by the null hypothesis. A left-tailed test is used when the hypothesis implies a parameter surpasses a certain value. Conversely, a right-tailed test is utilized when the parameter is suggested to be less than a value. For situations where the parameter is simply not equivalent to a specific value, a two-tailed test is employed.
