Problem

Find the coordinates of the \( y \)-intercept and the \( x \)-intercept, in that order. \[ \begin{array}{l} 2 x+y=-6 \\ (-6,0)(6,0) \end{array} \]

Solution

Step 1 :\(x\)-intercept: \(2x+y=-6\), \(y=0\) => \(2x + 0 = -6\) => \(x = -3\), so \((-3,0)\)

Step 2 :\(y\)-intercept: \(2x+y=-6\), \(x=0\) => \(2(0) + y = -6\) => \(y = -6\), so \((0,-6)\)
