Problem

(a) Draw and label the line \( P Q=8 \mathrm{~cm} \). [2] (b) Using a pair of compasses and a ruler only, construct an angle of \( 60^{\circ} \) at \( P \). [3] (c) Draw an angle of \( 40^{\circ} \) at \( Q \). \( [1] \) (d) Complete and label the diagram to form \( \triangle P Q R \). [2]

Solution

Step 1 :Draw a line segment PQ of length 8 cm.

Step 2 :With P as the center, draw a 60-degree angle using a pair of compasses.

Step 3 :With Q as the center, draw a 40-degree angle using a protractor.

Step 4 :Construct the point where the rays of the angles at P and Q intersect, label it as R, and form the triangle \( \triangle PQR \).
