Problem

\[ x^{4}+3 x^{3}+2 x+1 \] What is the remainder when the polynomial is divided by \( x+2 \) ?

Solution

Step 1 :\(f(x) = x^4 + 3x^3 + 2x + 1\)

Step 2 :\(g(x) = x + 2\)

Step 3 :\(f(-2) = (-2)^4 + 3(-2)^3 + 2(-2) + 1 = 16 - 24 - 4 + 1 = -11\)
